Abby’s Bagels & Coffee Thrives on Greenville Avenue

Abby’s Bagels & Coffee, a new spot on Greenville Avenue in Dallas, stands out with classic and inventive bagel options, led by chef Nick Backlund of Hide and Royal 39, according to a Texas Is Life article. As per the report,

“A good bagel place and some spread is always necessary in any city or town. Abby’s Bagels & Coffee opened mid-January 2024 on Greenville Avenue in Dallas. It’s not just any bagel shop. This unique bagel spot from NB Concepts, led by chef Nick Backlund of Hide and Royal 39, offers all the basic bagel options, like plain and everything, plus some innovative and delicious new flavors and cream cheese.”

Abby’s Bagels & Coffee, opening on Greenville Avenue, provides a to-go experience with outdoor seating, inspired by Chicago’s bagel culture and Chef Nick Backlund’s family history in the business, according to a Dallas Morning News article. It reports,

“Unlike two other Dallas bagel shops, Shug’s and Lubbies, this new Greenville Avenue spot doesn’t have any indoor seating. Customers can grab a spot at the tables on the patio overlooking a bustling block with rooftops and retail shops. But most, like O’Malley, will take their bagels to-go. That model has worked just fine for downtown Dallas bagel shop, Starship Bagel, in addition to the smaller, newer Shug’s No. 2.

Backlund opened Abby’s Bagels because his wife, Abby, enjoyed the bagel shops in Chicago, where she went to art school. Backlund had a family history with this breakfasttime favorite, as his mom Carol owned a bagel shop in Southern California a few decades ago.”

Abby’s Bagels & Coffee, open since January 19, experienced overwhelming demand, selling nearly 5,000 bagels. Closing briefly to meet demand, the shop reopens on January 23, according to an Advocate article. They report,

“Since its opening on Friday, Jan. 19, the shop has sold almost 5,000 bagels. Its simple menu offers espresso, fresh sandwiches and of course, freshly made bagels. All the normal flavors are there and a few unique ones like truffle parm bagels, white fish cream cheese or birthday cake are on the menu.

With over hundreds of customers in three days of being open, the bagel shop is taking Monday, Jan. 22 to close and get caught up with neighborhood demand. The facility will reopen at 7 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 23.”

Abby’s Bagels, gaining enthusiastic support from East Dallas, is located at 1915 Greenville Ave. Operating seven days a week, it opens at 7 a.m. and closes at varying times.
