Frisco’s Skye Blakely Shines with Gold at Gymnastics Worlds

Frisco’s Skye Blakely played a key role in Team USA’s gold at the Artistic Gymnastics World Championships, securing a record win, according to an NBCDFW article. They say, 

“On Wednesday, Gymnast Skye Blakely helped lead Team USA to gold at the Artistic Gymnastics World Championships in Belgium.

USA women’s gymnastics now has a record seventh consecutive world title. From the team’s post-win pizza party in Antwerp, Belgium, Blakely said her gold medal moment is still sinking in.

“So surreal just knowing my dreams are coming true,” said Blakely, who trains at WOGA Gymnastics in Frisco.”

The U.S. women’s gymnastics team, led by Simone Biles, secured a historic seventh consecutive world championship with help from Frisco’s Skye Blakely, according to a Dallas Morning News article. They report,

“Led by Simone Biles, the U.S. women won a record seventh consecutive team title at the gymnastics world championships on Wednesday night.

The American team of Biles, Shilese Jones, Skye Blakely and Leanne Wong combined for a total of 167.729 points to edge Brazil and France.

Blakely, who trains at the World Olympic Gymnastics Academy in Frisco, had a quality performance on the uneven bars Wednesday to help the U.S. Blakely overcame a major surgery and a seven-month rehabilitation process for her elbow to make it back to the world stage.”
