H-E-B Expands Joe V’s Low-Price Stores to Dallas

H-E-B expands into North Texas with the opening of two Joe V’s Smart Shop stores, emphasizing their commitment to the area, according to a Spectrum News 1 article which says,

“Texas-based H-E-B continues to expand its footprint into North Texas. The company announced its plan to open its first two Joe V’s Smart Shop stores earlier this month.

“With the introduction of Joe V’s Smart Shop to Dallas, we are excited to build on our longstanding presence in the area and commitment to serve more customers in this dynamic and growing part of Texas,” said H-E-B Chief Operating Officer Roxanne Orsak in a statement. “As a multi-format retailer, we have developed a variety of brands and formats to best serve our customers across the state.””

One Joe V’s Smart Shop will open at the corner of Wheatland Road and U.S. Highway 67, addressing a food desert issue. The second store will be located at the intersection of Buckner Blvd. and Samuell Blvd, according to a Dallas Observer article which reports,

“The first Joe V’s will go into the abandoned grocery space at the corner of West Wheatland Road and U.S. Highway 67 (4101 Wheatland Road) and is expected to open in late summer 2024. This store was built in 1985 for Albertsons but closed in 2004 and has been vacant since. The result was the creation of a food desert with nearby neighborhoods left with few options for fresh produce close to home.

The second location of Joe V’s will be at 5204 S. Buckner Blvd. at the intersection with Samuell Boulevard. It’s expected to open in the spring of 2025.”

Before expanding into Dallas, H-E-B established stores in Burleson, Hudson Oaks, Granbury, and Waxahachie. They also opened stores in Plano and Frisco and have upcoming construction plans in McKinney, Allen, Alliance, and Mansfield.
